Whew. After going about a month without any completed art, I finally have something I can post. And good thing too, because I wanted to also show off an improved drawing style. The anatomy may not look any better, but I tried solving (with assistance of one of my older cousins) a problem with the lineart being too blocky. Now this is my first attempt as this style, so I apologize if on different parts the lineart is thicker than others. Next time I'll try to make the width stay consistent throughout the entire art.

As of now, she has no name (UPDATE: I have decided on Fakhriya, for now.), but her design and color scheme was based slightly (not 100%) on a character from an obscure Japanese platformer on the Nintendo DS (I'll tell you for one thing it's a Crayon Shin-Chan title, the third released on the system). So this is generally my indie series' equivalent of such character, but designed with much more detail(?), so it shouldn't really be considered that much of a "fanart" piece. If you wanna argue with me on that, be my guest.

Otherwise, enjoy, and feel free to leave me criticism. Major edit requests will not be applied until the next artwork I do, since I already spent more time than necessary on this one picture.

First off, I wanna talk about your already very solid understanding of human anatomy. A lot of people, especially when it comes to women, have this tendency to draw people exaggerated in some manner. You however overall keep your proportions in check fairly well. The head is not too large or too small, legs are not significantly longer than the torso, hands are adequately sized and denote a slender delicacy to them as well as many other features presented in the figure.

The character's left arm is nicely done, though the fingers in the 'pointing' gesture are a little unusually placed. The thumb should be pointed differently and the spacing on the clenched fingers should be lessened.

The right arm is very disjointed at the moment. The wrist looks contorted in some impossible manner, and the elbow looks like its bending the wrong direction. I know those elements COULD bend in such a manner alone, but in relation to each other and the rest of the body, it seems like I said 'disjointed'. Consider trying to make it more 'relaxed' to create a more natural posture.

On the topic of posture, I quickly wanna note that the characters body is a tad stiff at the moment. Her left knee is bent, and her back is straight, yet her left shoulder is higher then the right? These are definitely the signs that there is some missed alignments going on up the body.

The face looks very awkward. The eye's are incredibly flat and suggest they're placed incorrectly on the face. (remember keep them parallel to the ears) The disappearing nose confuses me. I know with anime's they commonly downplay the nose to create a dainty like delicacy to the character, but here it like the stem of the nose begins and then just fades away for no reason. A little more emphasis with the tip of nose (even with just a little more highlighting/shading, not necessarily with line art) would really help define the face more significantly.

This leads into my final comments, particularly pertaining to the shading. You employed a very simple anime style shading, which is fine, you used it quite well to help define the clothing and most of the figure's body quite well. You accentuated selective features and help create a focus on the body. However there were some odd choices you made that I think hurt this technique you wanted to employ. You did the first pass just fine, a single layer of shadow that rounds out the features. Then in select areas you suddenly added another layer of shading/highlights, but no where else. The highlights on the chest and arm could be used in MANY other places on the body like the other arm, the stomach, the face, parts of the hand and so on. You also added an extra layer of shadow to the chest, and behind the body on the hair, but again no where else. The result is a distracting effect that ruins the fine details you've established, and takes away from the other equally developed area's. The rule to any shadow/highlight is, 'if your going to add it commit it to the ENTIRE piece', and not just the one area for the sake of making it stand out a little more.

Finally the BG is what I simply call useless, adding absolutely nothing to the piece. This picture was definitely all about the figure and unless you could come up with anything that could add more the your creatively thought up character here, I would either made this a blank background or create a new background with some element to accompany the character hand in hand.

You really have created a somewhat unique character here, with a lot of well developed features. However there is definitely a lot of little imperfections distracting from the overall quality of the piece, which should be addressed if you want future figures/art pieces to hold up in terms of quality.
